welcome gals, dudes, and everyone in between! this is my book and music blog. originally this was supposed to just be a project for one of my classes, but i quickly realized how much i wanted to share my thoughts, suggestions, and feelings about these things.

 

for as long as i can remember, books and music have been a huge part of my life. i have to attribute my passion for music to my family, who surrounded me with good music since the day i was born. my mom and i always listened to The Beatles together, and my love for them is rooted in the nostalgia they bring me. my dad, who's always had a passion for jazz and has played some instruments himself, instilled in me an appreciation for the genre that lasts to this day. and finally, my brother's passion for music (and being a musician himself) was definitely the biggest influence on the passion i have for it today. he introduced me to many of the artists i still listen to, and has been my concert buddy since my first concert -- The National -- in 2013.

and books, well, i've been reading and writing avidly since i was about 6 years old. like music, books carry stories in them that both help me to escape and also to relate sometimes as well. i always have my nose in a book and now i have somewhere i can talk about them :)

 

i've always had trouble finding ways to adequately express myself and my feelings, but the more i listened to music, the more i found myself both understanding the world more and realizing that i can't always make sense of it either. i've always been astonished by the fact that, when you have a broad enough taste in music, there's hardly ever a time you'll feel something that someone hasn't articulated through music.

i named this blog resonance because i suck at naming things, and also because books and music have always resonated with me in a way that no other person, place, or thing ever has. my hopes are that i can share things that will resonate with you, too.
